These poems are similar and different in many ways. Both the poems main ideas are about race and acceptance of other/equality, just one is more from an Aboriginal perspective and the other African American. However, the mains ideas are also different because 'All on Race' is about acceptance of others and 'Equality' is like a step further, accepting and then treating equally. Oodgeroo Noonuccal's poem had a more hopeful tone to it whereas Maya Angelou's was more angry at the 'whites' ignorance. Although Maya was still hopeful about being free. Both poems use a continuous rhyme scheme to drive the poem forward and give it a sense of hope. They also use techniques like metaphors and repeating.
